Every year, Yale surveys the entire country and asks 30 questions about climate change and global warming. They take the results and put together a map that represents the entire country, down to the county-level, and share it with the world. You can find this on the Climate Change Communication section of Yale's website and play around with the visualizations yourself.
Most Americans (64%) are worried about global warming and its impacts on current and future generations. North Dakota (49%) and West Virginia (47%) are exceptions, but only barely. In Illinois, 66% of us are worried about the issue.
36% of people report they discuss global warming at least occasionally. In Illinois, this number is 37%. This stands in stark contrast to the majority of Americans that are worried about it. Unfortunately, this is likely due to the scope and scale of global warming, with people feeling it's too large to have an impact. At CCL, we know that we can and are having an impact, and that there are constructive ways to discuss the problem and its myriad solutions.
